Unidentified Terrain

Angela Tam’s solo exhibition ‘Unidentified Terrain’ breaks new ground as she explores familiar Chinese ink practices with her persistent journey through spiritual growth. Each piece is a meditation created with intuitive certainty, where black and white space maps the topologies of her subconscious landscape.

Each stroke is a breath into a new dimension, formed precisely through repetition and the mastering of her innate, instinctual play. Intrigued by the tension of shadow and light, each composition unravels a new layer uncovering stories within her past. Angela expresses herself through pure psychic automatism, a technique coined by the Surrealists to describe the performance of the subconscious mind onto paper.

Angela Tam’s ‘Unidentified Terrain’ seeks to express the underlying conversations between the physical and spiritual and the empowering rise of the inner child surrendering to the Unknown.
